Beach Bum

We went to the beach Sunday and spent the whole day there. Not just any 'ol Florida beach, but Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota. Alexis and I saw it on the travel channel and it has the title of "World's Whitest & Softest Sand" and boy are they right! It is really like baby powder, just like they said. It is cool to the touch. I was a big fan of the water there. Emerald water with a sandy bottom; NO seaweed, NO rocks, NO shells... Just softness. It was the absolute BEST beach I have ever been to!!! Alexis had a blast making sand castles (or mountains, I should say) and Matt & I had a blast sitting in our new beach chairs and soaking up the sun and getting up for a dip in the Gulf if we got too hot. It was paradise. We spent the whole day there and then we had a nice dinner in Sarasota. We got some sun, but we used so much sunblock that getting miserable wasn't possible. I'm not a beach person, but this place was FUN! I think we will spend a lot of time at the beaches this summer. It is free and fun. You can't beat that.

Work has been awesome! I am SO HAPPY with my job that I could just walk around singing. I mean it. It is wonderful to enjoy what you do. I waited years for this and with a lot of hard, HARD work, I got it. Alexis graduated from 1st grade and now it's on to 2nd this fall. She got so many honors and awards, she doesn't know what to do with them. That's my girl!

Sunday is our anniversary. Matt & I have been married for 12 years. They really meant for richer or poorer and in good times and bad! We have been through a whole lot, but it is definitely worth every bit of it. I will never be alone and I will never be without love, that's for sure, as long as Matt & Alexis are with me. I'm finally happy. It has been a while, but I am now. I think it took me some separation to realize what there is to miss out on. I love you, Matt. I love you, Alexis. We have plans to take an evening cruise on the Sun Cruz casino ship Friday night. We don't gamble, but an evening sail might be nice and the tickets were free when I gave blood at work. I know we'll have a great time. I hope all my live journal friends are doing well, too.
